Today marks the third anniversary of our former colleagues, purged (KHK) diplomats being subjected to torture in the Ankara Police Headquarters. This heart wrenching incident was publicized by HDP MP Mr. Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, after which The Human Rights Center of the Ankara Bar Association interviewed our tortured former colleagues and put the grave acts of torture afflicted on them on the record in the form of a report. The story was also widely reported on in international press.

Bugün eski meslektaşlarımız KHK’lı diplomatlara Ankara Emniyet Müdürlüğünde gözaltı sırasında işkence yapılmasının üçüncü yıldönümü. Hepimizi üzen bu hadiseyi HDP Milletvekili Sayın Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu kamuoyuna duyurmuş, ardından Ankara Barosu İnsan Hakları Merkezi işkence mağduru eski meslektaşlarımızla görüşerek maruz kaldıkları ağır işkenceleri raporla kayıt altına almıştı. Hadise dünya basınında da geniş şekilde yer almıştı.

Today is the second anniversary of the torture suffered by former Turkish diplomats at the Ankara Police Headquarters in Turkey. Two years ago today, on May 26, 2019, we were appalled by the news that our former colleagues and friends were being tortured whilst under custody.

Die Nachricht über die Bestätigung der Haftstrafe gegen den HDP-Abgeordneten und Menschenrechtsaktivisten Ömer Faruk Gergerlioglu durch den Obersten Gerichtshof der Türkei hat uns tief erschüttert. Das jeweilige Bestätigungsurteil stellte die Rechtmäßigkeit der Verhängung der Haftstrafe von 30 Monaten wegen ‚Verbreitung terroristischer Propaganda‘ fest. Es ist offensichtlich, dass dieses Urteil ein willkürlicher Eingriff in die Rechte auf freie Meinungsäußerung und parlamentarische Immunität von Herrn Gergerlioglu darstellt und ein faires Gerichtsverfahren missachtet.
